Nurse Practitioner - With Experience in Radiology Wanted

Working in an ambulatory setting, the Nurse Practitioner cares for the patient undergoing radiologic imaging procedures and radiation oncology treatments. This role is responsible for coordinating the care for radiology patients by collaborating with radiology physicians on treatment plans and serving as a liaison between the radiologists, referring physicians, and nursing staff. A vital member of the radiology team, the Nurse Practitioner performs all aspects of patient care, including taking verbal medical histories, conducting physical examinations, determining what diagnostic tests patients need, obtaining consent for procedures, and evaluating patients pre- and post-procedure. This role may also be tasked with mentoring students or radiology residents and providing input on developing work processes.

Essential Functions

  • Obtains and reviews the patient’s medical history information relevant to patient care.
  • Conducts physical examinations.
  • Obtain procedural consents.
  • Order, analyze, and interpret the results of laboratory and diagnostic studies.
  • Formulate treatment plans and coordinate patient care.
  • Reviews patient’s progress and manages patient care accordingly.
  • Maintains all required documentation for patient care and medication management.
  • Documents patient progress notes in the patient chart and/or EMR.
  • Conducts patient consultations.
  • Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff, and provider team.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practices/procedures to enhance safety.
  • Provides training to clinical and non-clinical staff as required.
  • Participates in quality assurance and other clinical committees as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited program and Advanced Practice Nursing License required.
  • Considerable knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of advanced nursing principles and treatments.
  • Skill in clinical assessment and evaluation; ability to interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Experience with examining, diagnosing, assessing, and treating patients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and internal colleagues.
  • Skill in problem-solving in a variety of settings using good judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to deal effectively with difficult people and/or difficult situations.
  • Be a self-motivated, independent worker who can also be a valuable, contributing member of a team; exhibit a willingness to take the initiative.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and to operationalize that learning.
  • Knowledge of MS Windows and Office Applications.
